Implementation of Law

Girls Count is working on different report cards under the PCPNDT Act that will be assessing the statutory mechanisms, monitoring and inspection, self-regulation by ultrasound centres, status of court complaints and the role of state medical councils in discoursing medical malpractice. The key objective of this initiative is to help the states identify gaps in the implementation and mobilize them to take cognizance of the facts and give directions to the concerned authorities to take appropriate measures to ensure effective implementation of the law. The report card on first indicator “Current Structure and Status of Statutory Mechanisms” was released in August 2014 in Delhi with a view to ensure that all statutory mechanisms are put in place, and made functional and effective in accordance with the law. We also aim to raise accountability of the manufacturers under the PCPNDT Act and highlight their role and compliance within PCPNDT for proactive cooperation.
